Das Typenverzeichnis der bulgarischen Volksmärchen ist die bearbeitete deutsche Übersetzung von Balgarski folklorni prikazki. Katalog (Sofia 1994). Es macht erstmals die reiche kernbalkanische Erzähltradition für die internationale Erzählforschung zugänglich. Verzeichnet sind mehr als 5500 Varianten aus dem gesamten bulgarischen Sprachraum, die nach dem System von Aarne und Thompson 1600 Märchentypen zugeordnet sind; für etwa die Hälfte der Typen fehlen im Aarne­Thompson Parallelen. Die Varianten sind mit detaillierten analytischen Angaben und ggf. auch Hinweisen auf deutsche und englische Übersetzungen versehen. Ein Glossar, ein Ortsregister, zwei Kartenskizzen und eine umfangreiche Bibliographie zur bulgarischen Volkserzählung ergänzen den Typenindex.

The Types of the Bulgarian Folktale present the German translation of Balgarski folklorni prikazki. Katalog (Sofia 1994) and make available for the first time the rich narrative tradition of the Central Balkans for international narrative research. The index registers over 5500 variants from the entire Bulgarian language area. The tales are categorized into 1600 tale types according to the system of Aarne and Thompson; for more than half of them there are no parallels in the Types of the Folktale. The variants are furnished with detailed analytical information, including data on German or English translations. A glossary, a geographical index, two maps, and a comprehensive bibliography of literature on Bulgarian folktales provide the reader with the necessary research tools.
